When a guy leaves the comfort and ambience of his home and base in America, for a political journey in the murky waters of Nigeria, it points to only one direction; serious business and a mission of rescue! Dr Sylvester Onoyona flew into town a couple of weeks back and it’s been one meeting of consultation to another across Delta South senatorial district. The dream of an average Nigerian nay African of Sylvester’s age and background, is to be in America and remain there for good.
Dr Sylvester Onoyona enjoys the rare privilege of dual citizenship of America and Nigeria. Joyfully, he happens to be the type who can not be carried away with the luxuries that a foreign environment provides. Despite all the rights and privileges that Sly enjoys as an American citizen, he remembers that, first and foremost, he is a Nigerian. After all, all the comforts that the American environment avails her Citizens, are made possible by the sheer determination and positive thinking of Americans.
In his inner recess, this can be replicated in his country of origin. Why can’t I start with my senatorial district, by representing them in the legislative arm and being part of the overall legislative process that provides the framework for a stable, equitable, egalitarian and service delivery society? This seems to be the drive.
In the light of the foregoing, Dr Sylvester Onoyona’s Delta South Senatorial District transformation tour, hits Burutu Local Government Area of Delta South Senatorial District, of Ijaw Nation over the week.
Sylvester Onoyona, PhD, officially notified his Ijaw brethren about his interest in the Senatorial seat, come 2023.
The meeting which was largely attended by the APC faithfuls of Ijaw extraction took place at Sylva Link Hotel & Events Center, Warri. The environment was lively and the reception was warm. The Ijaw Nation promised to support and stand by Dr Sylvester Onoyona to achieve his dreams.
The consultation tour continues as hope rises for the young aspirant who carries the dreams of not only his constituents, but, the hope and expectations of young Nigerians.
