Esan Central LGA APC Crisis: ‘Leaders are better equipped to manage crises and foster party discipline’ – Gen. Cecil Esekhaigbe.

By Ebor Cletus Ralph Jr.

APC top brass in Edo State, Major General Cecil Esekhaigbe RTD has urged APC members in Esan Central Local Government Area as well as party members across the state to continue with their regular activities as the dispute that currently rocking the party in the Local Government chapter would soon be a thing of the past.

Gen. Cecil Esekhaigbe, who is currently on a national assignment abroad, revealed this to our newsmen in an interview.

In his words, ” After every election, there are always conspiracy theories. While the winners are filled with joy and a sense of conquer, the losers are bombarded with stories about who and what sabotaged their efforts.

If not dealt with, the resulting sense of loss and anger portend collateral damage to the system. It is imperative that leaders at all levels must manage the resulting emotions and conspiracy theories that will inevitably arise.

While some, out of ignorance, want to relegate Leaders with the slogan that Leaders are not recognised by the Party Constitution, evidence abounds that these Leaders are better equipped to manage crises and foster party discipline.”

He clarified further by saying, “A effective party administration requires both the formal and informal structures. The gale of suspension and expulsion that is currently raging in Esan Central LGA is the result of what I have described happens after every election.

The leaders of Edo Central Senatorial District in general, and Esan Central LGA in particular, are on top of the situation, and the seeming crisis would be resolved in no time.

While no one is above party discipline, we must ensure that best practices established by constitutional imperatives are respected in management of party crises.

I enjoin everyone to exercise restraints  and believe in our capacity to resolve conflicts. The Leadership of the party in the State should call all the dramatis personae  to order and cease fire while the Leaders in the affected LGA and Senatorial District resolve the conflict. The seeming knee jerk approach may not be the solution.”

Recall that the APC Esan Central Local Government Area of the party recently saw a wave of suspensions and expulsions of party members and leaders. The suspended and expelled members have been accused of participating in a number of anti-party activities.
