Water intake is generally healthy for the body because our bodies are majorly fluid in content and there are various ways of obtaining water besides drinking the normal water we all do. How Does Water Intake Affect A Person’s Sleep Cycle?

Under normal circumstances, the kidneys halt activity for some hours usually 6 to 8 hours at night for a person to sleep more freely without having to wake up severally in the middle of the night to urinate. This is because when you wake up severally to urinate, the chances of getting back to sleep and enjoying the rest of the night may be slim thus leading to sleep deprivation; which is of course dangerous to the health.

But then, drinking water before bed comes with some changes. This doesn’t mean that drinking a glass or two would cause harm to the body or disrupt your sleep but taking water immediately before sleeping or going to bed may cause you to wake up severally in the middle of the night to urinate. The normal sleep cycle could be disrupted if you drink water before bedtime. But then, what happens if you are thirsty?

Researchers advise that people should drink water a couple of hours usually two hours before bedtime. The reason being that before you finally fall asleep, the kidneys must have gotten rid of some extra water in the body thus allowing you to have a smooth night rest.
