The founder of the Household of God Church in Lagos, Rev. Chris Okotie has dismissed the chances of the Labour Party at the forthcoming 2023 presidential election.
Okotie, a former presidential candidate said even though he’s glad young people on social media are showing interest in the Labour Party, the party however do not have the structure to win an election like the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in the country.
“You know it makes me glad that young people are taking their destiny into their hands but it’s too late at this point in time because the structure that is needed to win an election, only PDP and APC have it in this country. No other political party.
The young people you said are on social media, how many people are on social media in this country?”
Speaking further, he said “I just want to explain to you why it is not practically possible now, maybe in few years from now if they carry on like this. But PDP and APC have been on ground, they’ve been in government. No place you go in this country where you will not see PDP and APC.
It’s not about the people, it is the party. When I joined Justice Party, Nigerians were talking about me like the hope and all of that but Justice Party don’t have the structures. Fresh Democratic Party don’t have the structures. No party in this country can rival APC and PDP.”
