Super Falcons’ Striker, Gift Makes Her first Professional Move To Europe After Almost 2 Years Of Chase

After almost two years of chase, UD Granadilla Tenerife has succeeded in making the 21-year-old the second Nigerian player on their lists after Roosa Ariyo in 2021.

Super Falcons player, Gift Monday has joined Spanish club side, UD Granadilla Tenerife on a 2-year deal, the club announced on Monday evening.

The Super Falcons’ striker joins the Spanish women’s top-flight club side from FC Robo Queens of Lagos, where she has been plying her trade since 2017.

The 2-year contract is valid until June 2024.

Gift is expected to team up with her new club after her national duties with Nigeria against the United States this week.

Gift began her professional career in the Nigeria women’s domestic league with defunct COD United before joining FC Robo Queens. All through, she had brief spells with Rivers Angels and Bayelsa Queens, where she won the 2021/2022 NWPL title and finished as the top goalscorer with 12 goals.

Gift who is well known for her excellent dribbling proficiency and power on the ball captained Nigeria to the African Games jewel in 2019 and also scored the first goal of the competition before making her Super Falcons debut in September 2019.

She was impressive at her maiden Women’s Afcon where Nigeria booked a ticket to the 2022 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
