Some All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftains in Sokoto have defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

PDP State Publicity Secretary, Hassan Sanyinnawal made the announcement in a statement on Friday.

The defectors were APC Ward leaders of Dingyadi-Badawa in Bodinga Local Government Area.

They include the Ward Secretary, Ummarun Hassan and the Public Relations Officer (PRO), Barno Akamawa.

Nigerians have congratulated the vice presidential candidate of the party, Senator Kashim Shettima, as he clocks 56 years of age.

In a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, President Buhari praised Shettima for the leadership style he deployed as governor in Borno State, which completely transformed the state into an example of social, economic and infrastructural development.

President Muhammadu Buhari on behalf of Federal Executive Council (FEC) and his family, has sent warm greetings to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Gidahyelda Mustapha, on his 66th birthday anniversary, September 4, 2022.

The President in a statement by his media aide, Garba Shehu, extolled Mustapha, whom he described as a political leader and diligent public servant for his dedication to nation building since his youthful days in the 80s, staying active in legal practice, politics and governance, with distinctions in every assignment.

The United States Vice President, Kamala Harris, says it was a great meeting with her Nigeria counterpart, Professor Yemi Osinbajo.

Daily Post had reported that Osinbajo, on Wednesday, departed Abuja for the United States to seek global partnerships and support for Nigeria’s recently launched Energy Transition Plan.

Osinbajo met with Kamala on Friday at the White House where the two vice presidents discussed some issues bothering on the relationship between the two countries.

Kamala, in a post on her official Facebook page after the meeting, cited Nigeria’s leadership as one of the major keys in confronting the country’s challenges.
