[ad_1]

It has been a tradition in Nigeria that, when a prominent person dies, a school, road, or any government own institution is named after him to immortalize him. That is how Obafemi Awolowo University, Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ahmadu Bello University, Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport etc came in to being.

Former All Progressives Congress’s presidential aspirant, Malam Adamu Garba has advised Federal government to rename the University Of Nigeria Nsukka to Queen Elizabeth University. Adamu Garba posted on his verified Facebook page that, being the first university in whole country, renaming the University of Nigeria Nsukka to Queen Elizabeth University will immortalize the deceased.

The whole world is mourning the death of the longest serving Queen in the history of the Great Britain Dynasty, Queen Elizabeth. Countries’ presidents and head of states are sending condolences to the government and the people of Great Britain.

Queen Elizabeth was announced dead by the British palace yesterday after been on the throne for about 70 years. Queen Elizabeth played an important role in securing the Independence of Nigeria in 1960.

What do you think about Garba’s suggestion?

Should Nigeria name the first university in the country after Late Queen Elizabeth?
