While regretting that the strike has caused a setback in the education sector where the government, students, parents, and lecturers are the losers.

Opiah, who was on a working visit to the Federal University, Lokoja, Kogi State, urged the pro-chancellors’ and chairmen of governing councils of universities to look into the situation and persuade ASUU to rethink its position.

He lavished admiration on the institution’s leadership for the development speed that has been observed thus far. The minister commend ongoing cooperation between the management and the Governing Council, which is chaired by Senator Chris Adighije, (Pro-Chancellor), noting that doing so will permit the necessary growth for academic success.

The minister took advantage of the opportunity to examine TETfund’s contribution to the school’s infrastructure development as well as security arrangements in light of the current state of affairs in the nation while he was at the university to assess the level of development in the institution founded 11 years ago.

The minister had already visited the state governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, as a courtesy and explained the reason for his visit.
