In Tunisia’s Ben Arous province’s north-east town of Hammam-Lif, massive wildfires have started.
The tragedy happened a few days after comparable flames in neighbouring Morocco destroyed around 6,600 trees.
According to local media, a significant portion of the neighbouring Mount Boukornine, one of Tunisia’s most renowned mountains, was destroyed by the fire that broke out early on Tuesday.
According to reports, it took firemen a number of hours to put out the fire and stop it from spreading.
But no one died as a result of the incident.
The national army was requested by local authorities to send security agents to the affected areas to assist local firemen and safety officers in putting out the fire.
