Manchester United v Arsenal: Match Preview, Team News and Key Battles

[ad_1]

This week’s match between Arsenal and Manchester United between two elite teams, two storied teams, and two in-form teams looks to be a mouthwatering one. As the current table-topers with a spotless record after five games, the Gunners are setting the bar high. Meanwhile, Erik Ten Hag has his team working as a unit and is coming off a three-game winning streak.

This match has a history of drama, especially during the height of the Ferguson-Wenger rivalry. Even though both teams have been battling to establish themselves at the top in recent years, their rivalry has always been fierce. Both teams will have a great chance to establish their dominance in the league this year throughout this encounter.

Team News

Manchester United

Jadon Sancho scored the winning goal in Wednesday’s 1-0 defeat of Manchester United at the King Power stadium. United supporters will be happy to see the addition of Brazilian winger Antony, who was acquired from Ajax for £85.4 million, after his strong performances in recent weeks. He might be selected for the match against Arsenal.

In the meantime, Casemiro might make his United debut this weekend. Despite his strong preseason performance, Anthony Martia will miss this week’s game. Youngsters Brandon Williams and Facundo Pellistri follow him. Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Luke Shaw, fullbacks, did not go to Leicester but may be in line to start against Arsenal after recent fitness tests.

Arsenal

Due to the absence of both of their defensive midfielders, Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny, Arsenal is facing its own dilemma. They attempted to remedy this by purchasing Douglas Luiz from Aston Villa on the day of the deadline, but in vain. Aaron Ramsdale could travel after evaluating his injury from his loss to Villa.

Meanwhile, Zinchenko, who missed the previous two games due to a knee injury, might make a comeback. The only defensive midfielder option for Arteta at the moment is Albert Sambi Lokonga, who last week won over the Arsenal faithful.

Key Players

Jadon Sancho

He struggled to get going the first time around, but he has two goals thus far, and his performances have been getting better and better. In the game against Leicester, Ten Hag also started him from the left, and he troubled James Justin, the right defender.

The matchup will have an impact on the outcome of the game because Ben White has been in terrific form for their team as well. Sancho will hope to succeed against Arsenal, though, with Bruno Fernandes returning to form and United having a secure buildup after a disastrous start.

Additionally, he has a track record of scoring against powerful league opponents. If space is available, Sancho will try to advance with the ball, and he poses a threat to Arsenal.

Bukayo Saka

While Gabriel Jesus, Martinelli, and Odegaard have scored, Saka has had trouble getting going in front of the net. He is crucial to the way Arsenal plays, though, and is constantly by Arteta’s side.

The players next to him have taken advantage of his ability to overcome defenders and open up space for the rest of the team. Tyrell Malacia will be the opponent for Saka, and despite the fact that the young man has impressed, Saka will definitely try to outmatch him in combat.

The match versus United is the ideal occasion for the England international, who was Arsenal’s leading scorer last season, to rekindle his goal-scoring form.

Probably line-ups

Manchester United: De Gea; Dalot, Varane, Martinez, Malacia; Casemiro, McTominay; Sancho, Fernandes, Elanga; Rashford.

Arsenal: Ramsdale; White, Saliba, Gabriel, Tierney; Xhaka, Lokonga; Saka, Smith Rowe, Martinelli; Jesus.
