Nigeria’s non-literacy population now stands at 31%, says FG

The Minister of state for education, Mr Goodluck Nah Opiah during an occasion at the 2022 International Literacy Day Ministering Press Briefing at Abuja, added that the current illiteracy levels at the country is at the 31%, according to his statistics, it is a further reduction from the previous years and 7% as of 2015 which placed the country at the 38% advantage. It is very humbly to know that the current statistics of this year’s illiteracy levels and the non-literate population are lower as expected. 

He further added that the International Literacy Day is usually observed in all parts of the world to assure and reaffirm that commitment to promoting education and the literacy of the masses, this is showing the world the importance of education to the existence of humans. We are gradually advancing in every aspect of human lives, with rapid scientific and technological creations due to education, even the meaning of literacy has changed over time; so this administration is not sparing any stone in their decision of ensuring that present demands of the now are met.
